Mayur is in close proximity to a number of Wildlife sanctuaries and pilgrim centers. Notable amongst them are:

Dudhwa National Park

Situated in the Indo-Nepal border it presents a highly diverse and productive Terai eco system. Together with Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary it makes up the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. Sprawled over an area of 811sq. km. it is a wonder of nature with grasslands, dense forests and marshes, it abounds in tigers and swamp deer.

Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary

This is along the Indo-Nepal border covering an area of 550 sq. km. of dense sal and teak forests. It is a part of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. Besides tigers it has a host of cheetal, leopards, spotted deer, barking deer swamp deer, civets, jackals and porcupines. Crocodiles live in its lakes.

Naimisharanya

Naimisharanya

Neemsar or Naimisharanya is linked to the Hindu Trinity and is believed to be the abode of the gods and goddesses. Located on the banks of the Gomti River it is famous for Vyasa Gaddi, where he sat and composed the scriptures, Hanuman Garhi, Lalita Devi temple and the Dashashwamedha Ghat.
